HIRING THE ART GALLERY

We are lucky, our gallery is steeped in history and nestled in a beautiful Cotswold valley, it inspires us everyday and that is what we want it to do for you to.

With few galleries of this size to hire in the Cotswolds, owner Jane Slemeck wanted to create a space that artists could use to display a wide range of both art and sculpture. In creating The Compton Gallery, she has not only has provided a venue for audiences to view work outside London but has also helped artists to maximise sales from the lucrative and creative Cotswold clientele.

The Art Gallery – a unique space

With over 75sqm of floor space and high beamed ceilings the Gallery really lends itself to huge canvases, but, as all old buildings it has also many interesting features allowing you the flexibility to display both large and small pieces, as well as creating areas to contain different styles. It really is the ideal venue for both solo and mixed exhibitions. 6ft oak trestle tables are provided for easels and smaller sculptures and we have sofas and seating for those wishing to view more casually. The adjoining courtyard and gardens with their tranquil countryside backdrop is the ideal setting for larger sculptures.

Private View Parties with a cosmopolitan Cotswold audience

Here in the Cotswolds our cosmopolitan and affluent audience are always looking for stunning art to adorn their country manor houses, regency townhouses and second homes. The Compton Gallery offers a unique viewing venue and our Private View Parties have been extremely well attended from a wide geographical area, as well as being commercially successful. The Gallery space has standing room for up to 120 people and is delightful for a drinks reception. On warmer days the courtyard can hold an additional 50 guests. If you wanted a private dinner or lunch event we can comfortably seat 40.

Our fee structure

The price for hiring The Compton Gallery is flexible and is bespoke to the artist and projected sales. It will consist of either a flat hire fee, or a mix of a flat fee and a (capped) commission on all works sold. In order to set the price, we need to understand a little more about the artist and type of works that will be displayed. The Gallery can be hired for long weekends and on a weekly or 10-day basis. Prices for a long weekend start from £750 plus commission.

TESTIMONIALS

I was thrilled to exhibit at The Compton Gallery and having seen Tom Hammick's, one of Britains leading figurative painters, huge painting dominate the west wall of the gallery - it was evident that the neutral grey that Jane had chosen was going to hold colour well. What a great experience it was to work with Jane and her team, everyone involved had the same end goal, to make the exhibition a huge success.
