Stewart Jones has a wide knowledge and love of landscape and a vibrant, forceful and original way of expressing his interest. This fascination is reflected in his work in which he depicts varying landscapes; from the coastal cliffs of Dorset, through the vineyards, olive groves and lavender fields of France and Spain, to the coast of Sicily.
Having been occupied for most of his working life with his legal career at the Bar, Stewart Jones has now returned to painting, a love of which was generated by inspirational teaching during his school days at Cheltenham College.
He has never forgotten the guidance of the painter Bruce Killeen, formerly tutor at the Royal Academy Schools and art critic for the Guardian, and is now putting into practice Killeen’s teaching on the use of space, form and colour in his paintings. Encouraged by the modernist architect Christoph Bon to expand his interest in twentieth century and contemporary pictures, Stewart began painting again.
